AVE37
AVE 37 is a prototype house for new urban dwellers in northeast Los Angeles. Located in the hillside of Mt. Washington, the hillside specific code determines square footage and setback, leaving little room for design. The design solution was to create staggered decking for lower and upper level, to clear the hight limit while achieving maximum indoor / outdoor space. The S shaped wall creates different view from different spaces.
The level change in the kitchen / dining area enables smooth transition between 2. Kitchen counter area is lowered by 6 inches which gives table height for the dining area. It enables natural family interaction while engaing in different activities.
